Good old European Commission
I’m not a Eurosceptic by any means, in fact I am extremely pro-Europe. However, I have to hand it to the European Commission. With economic and financial meltdown all around us, mass unemployment, possible breakup of the Euro and general doom and gloom for years to come, we get this:

It is simple. Any company that implements any web strategy that requires user consent upon entering their site, no matter how carefully it is done, is going to lose business hand over foot to their competitors. They will see their visitor numbers drop off, orders will go through the floor and they risk going out of business, all because they tried to be compliant with one of the most ill-though out and badly implemented legislation we have ever seen.
Good on you, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Slovenia! All of them will just refuse to pay the fine anyway and the EC will just becoming laughing stock. Well they would if the situation wasn’t so serious.
