The web is now the most common source of information that we have. But we often do not realise that information about our own identity and personal details may be freely available to everyone on the internet.

If you want to protect yourself, it’s worth searching for your own name using some common search tools and see whether you feature as a Search Engine result. When you have worked out where the details have come from you can remove them if necessary.
